from GeoBretagne to GeOchestra

Intervenant(s) : Fabrice Phung, Lydie Vinsonneau
Date : Mercredi 7 juillet 2010 Horaire : 16h20 Durée : 40 minutes
Lieu : ENSEIRB - Grand Amphi

In order to improve the knowledge of their territory, the Breton public stakeholders federated around a partnership project, GéoBretagne, based on the exchange and pooling of their location-based datasets. The platform which makes it possible to take up this challenge was developed under a free licence to fully apply the principles on which the partnership relies. A community and an Opensource tool, geOrchestra, were thus born. The strategic objectives pursued through this deliberated choice relate to the reusability, the continued existence and the interoperability of the implemented solution. During the development stage, this choice deeply modified the follow-up of the project and led to adopt new work methods. The implementation from the very beginning of a forge opened to contributions, the leading of the project towards the free and open source fellowship, and the questioning on a shared governance were issues which were both determining and enriching.
