Quick introduction to Ruby 1.9

Speaker(s) : Bruno Michel
Date : Thursday 8 July 2010 Schedule : 11h20 Duration : 20 minutes
Place: ENSEIRB - Amphi C

The presentation

Ruby is an object-oriented programming language, that is nice for developers. Currently, most people are using Ruby 1.8. This version is far from perfect, and Ruby 1.9, a complete reimplementation, aims to fix some of its defects.

I will try in this presentation to answer some practical questions like:
- What are the advantages of using Ruby 1.9 for me, user of Ruby 1.8?
- Is Ruby 1.9 already usable?
- How can I migrate smoothly from Ruby 1.8 to 1.9?
- What is the future of Ruby?
