The talk

The scope of mobile is significantly broadening, providing users with a variety of heterogeneous hardware modules including different processor architectures, heterogeneous wireless components and different storage modules. This heterogeneity, compounded with the intricacies of underlying technologies, makes the programming of new mobile applications a daunting task.

This presentation describes how Linux fulfils the requirements of the development for terminal mobile, from both hardware and middleware. In doing so, Linux is showing great promise to support heterogeneous hardware modules. Moreover, a comparison of three OS for mobile is presented to outline the requirements of the middleware for mobile applications. I will describe how Android fulfils these requirements.
