Summary

JClic is a set of open source software tools designed to create, implement and report results of multimedia educational activities. The authoring tool allows to create various types of educational activities : puzzles, associations , text exercises, crosswords, etc. The activities can contain images, texts, sounds, video and animations, and are usually packed and delivered in "projects". A project consists of a group of activities and one or more sequences, which indicate the order in which they have to be played.

JClic is the evolution of Clic 3.0, a tool for the creation of didactic multimedia applications. During the last years many educators have used it to create a lot of interactive activities for different areas of the school curriculum, from kindergarten up to secondary education.

The clicZone (http://clic.xtec.cat) is a service of the Department of Education of the government of Catalonia created to disseminate and support the use of this resources, and to facilitate the sharing of the teaching materials created by the educators that use it. Since 1995, when the old ’Clic corner’ project was started, the library of projects has grown to over 1.250 titles with about 200,000 activities in different languages. The activities of the clicZone have all been developed by teachers and are shared under licenses of type Creative Commons.

The team behind JClic is also working on other projects of open source educational software : "Quaderns Virtuals" (Virtual Notebooks), "Col·lex" (on-line collections), "Intraweb" and "La Prestatgeria" (the bookshelf). We will be very happy to share our work with the big community gathered in the RMLL !
