Xavier Oswald {JPEG} Xavier Oswald present the actual status of Debian Edu/Skolelinux.

Currently Debian Edu/Skolelinux RC out for the new version based on Debian Lenny. Debian Edu/ Skolelinux Lenny should be published short before RMLL 2010.

Since Debian Edu/ Skolelinux is used in France too, it is interesting for the national audience too.


Xavier Oswald has been using Debian GNU/Linux for 10 years and is a Debian developer since April 2009. He is a member of the board of the French Debian association, and a member of several Debian teams such as : debian-installer (Debian distribution installing suite), pkg-perl (Perl packages), parted (hard drive partitioning tool), debian-edu (Debian distribution designed for education). Xavier works in several Debian package maintenance teams, and contributes to the development of the object compiler and langage based on the Lisaac prototype and on the IsaacOS operation system ( He is currently software developer at Caldera Graphics (
