Free Software takes more and more importance within the world of automatic translation, as it helps to recude costs of production.

Matxin and Apertium are both automatic translation engines published in Open Source, based on grammatical rules developed for the Opentrad project.

Apertium is an engine which integrates lang pairs with close grammatical structures (spanish-catalan, spanish-galician, spanish-french, french-catalan, occitan-catalan etc.).
Matxin has essentially been built for disparate grammatical structures languages, such as spanish and basque.

These 2 engines are free and open sourced, and thus can be downloaded or used on the Internet. You can translate any text you want, document or web page with them.

They have the ability to be extended linguisticaly (by dictionnary) and technologicaly (to fit your CMS).
