Quickly is a software meant to help you accelerate application development. In two commands, it allows you to create an application and get a Debian package available in a LaunchPad PPA with its versioned project, correct licensing and a full changelog.

Quickly is based on a core/template model. Even if the core is written in Python, it is possible to write templates in any programming language (a template is basically made of executables). The Core cares for verifying context and shell completion. So Quickly is a tool that is agnostic in terms of distribution and technology.

This project, although young, has already gained quite some success in terms of applications using it (bughugger (https://launchpad.net/bughugger), lernid (http://www.jonobacon.org/2009/11/25…), photobomb (http://theravingrick.blogspot.com/2…) …).

The author

Didier Roche, 26 years old, Secretary of the ubuntu-fr association and author of the framabook "Simple Comme Ubuntu" (http://www.framabook.org/ubuntu.html). I’ve recently started working at Canonical as a packager for Ubuntu Netbook Edition and for GNOME components in the Desktop Team. Very active in the Free Software life (mainly around Paris), I’m participating in its promotion by organizing events and meet-ups as the "premier samedi du libre", ubuntu parties, or at booths in Free Software conferences. I’ve spoken last year at the LSM in the Development track about the "Ubuntu release cycle".
